On February 13, 2012, C&K Trucking (through an affiliated company) acquired specific assets from Metro-Intermodal, LTD, a Chicago-area trucking company that provided international container drayage service throughout the Midwest. The acquisition will allow for expansion of C&K’s service capabilities into the Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan markets.
“Metro-Intermodal was a highly successful company with a terrific customer base,” said C&K President Mike Burton. “We're very excited to expand our market reach on the basis of opportunities presented through this transaction.”
In addition to acquiring information regarding Metro-Intermodal's customer base, C&K also acquired certain other intangible assets such as rights to the name “Metro-Intermodal.” Accordingly, and among other things, this transaction will allow operations to be conducted in a new geographic segment through a commonly-owned company, which will do business under the purchased name of “Metro-Intermodal.
Burton added, “Certain key management employees who have since accepted employment with our company have a tremendous amount of industry experience. Though we're thrilled to begin building relationships with Metro-Intermodal's customers, we're equally enthused about the knowledge and experience these new employees bring to our business. It was a great opportunity, and we anticipate good things for the future.”
