Announcing Our New Cold Storage Facility

Posted September 26, 2024

We are happy to announce that William Sanders, Senior Vice President of Cold Chain, has joined the MEDLOG USA family!

Bill recently joined MSC with the responsibility of helping MEDLOG establish their new, state-of-the-art cold storage facility in Savannah, Georgia. Bill brings more than 30 years of industry experience in the logistics industry to our team, including leadership positions with Americold Logistics and Ingram Micro, two of the nation’s largest cold storage providers. Over the course of his career, he has developed strategic alignment programs across multiple business units for global supply chain mapping and identified opportunities for UPS, SCS, and DHL. His extensive experience in all areas of logistics gives him a unique perspective on marketplace trends and customer demands.

Bill is excited to be on board and embracing the challenge of completing the cold storage facility, which broke ground in July. The new 291,000 sq. ft. cold storage facility will equip poultry, pork, and meat producers with easy distribution across the Southeast and Midwest.

“The facility will serve as MEDLOG USA’s flagship facility and is among the most modern, environmentally-conscious facilities of its kind in the U.S.,” Bill said. “It’s also one of the first MEDLOG cold facilities and the only one located in Savannah that is rail-served, allowing meat producers to easily ship overseas from the nearby port as well as throughout the nation by rail.”

C&K Trucking customers and partner carriers will reap the rewards of the facility’s strategic location, as well as the other highlights of the new facility, which include:

  • Massive Capacity, with 20,000 freezer/cooler pallet positions.
  • High Throughput, capable of processing up to 3 million pounds of blast freezing per day.
  • Global Reach, accommodating direct shipments to South America and Asia.
  • Versatile Design, for both frozen and chilled cargo.
  • Efficient Loading, from 42 loading docks with rail cargo capability.
  • Green-Power, from a 1.5-Megawatt rooftop solar array
