We are saddened to report the passing of Gerry McIntyre. After a three month struggle with respiratory issues, he passed away this weekend. Gerry was like a father to so many of us. He gave us advice, provided support, and was always there to help us through any issue or problem. We were very fortunate to have Gerry as part of the C&K Holdings family and he will be greatly missed.
For those that didn’t have a chance to work with him, I wanted to briefly share his history. Gerry, Ralph Marolda, and John Amonino started C&K Trucking back in the early 1990s. Gerry was the Operations expert, Ralph was the Sales expert, and John was the Accounting expert. They took C&K from a start-up to a very successful intermodal company. In addition, they provided the seed money for the start-up of AV Logistics in the late 1990s. In 2003, Ralph, Jerry and John sold the Company to the current ownership. They had agreed to stay on for three years. Gerry was still with us 17 years later. Gerry personally took me under his wings and taught me the operations side of the business. I am grateful for his guidance and insights over the years. He bled C&K Trucking/AV Logistics and always was there for us. Up until his illness, he came in every Saturday and brought bagels or doughnuts to the Chicago team. He worked on a number of projects for us and was a sounding board for our management team.
Please keep Gerry and his family in your thoughts and prayers. We lost a great one this weekend. His impact lives on and his presence will be missed greatly.
Sincerely,
Mike Burton
